Renowned English actress Lynn Redgrave has lost her battle with cancer. Speaking on behalf of her family, Redgrave's publicist, Rick Miramontez, said Redgrave died peacefully Sunday night at her home in Kent, Connecticut with close friends and Children Ben, Pema and Annabel by her side.

Redgrave came from a family of well-known British actors, Vanessa Redgrave being one. Redgrave, trained in London, became a Broadway and theatrical prodigy during the early 1960s. She has appeared in several films Mother Courage, The Recruiting Officer, Much Ado About Nothing, Tom Jones, Girl with Green Eyes, The Deadly Affair and Georgy Girl for which she earned the New York Film Critics Award, the Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.

Redgrave received Tony nominations for "Mrs. Warren's Profession," "Shakespeare for My Father" and "The Constant Wife." She also performed with her critically acclaimed actress-sister Vanessa in Three Sisters in London.

The English sensation's notable TV appearances in "Desperate Housewives," "Law & Order" and "Ugly Betty" kept her working well into the millennium.

Redgrave's children released this statement about their mother's death:

"Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer," Redgrave's children said in a statement Monday. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time."

Redgrave, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2002, had a mastectomy in January 2003 and underwent chemotherapy, was preceded in death by niece, actress Natasha Richardson who died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident and older brother, Corin Redgrave

Her death comes a year after her niece Natasha Richardson died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident and less than a month after the death of her older brother, actor and political activist Corin Redgrave.

Lynn Redgrave was 67-years-old.
