Presidential Debate : Face 2 Face
Finally the day has come for the debate between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Tonight we will see how these two men handle themselves towards each other and with hard hitting questions. Of course we will see the fake smiles and the handshakes at first, but who cares about that. We the public want to see how they answer their questions, and who will win.
These two are harboring strong feeling towards each other because of everything leading to this moment in time. These two men actually only met a few times over the past few years, so I wonder if the harboring feeling will finally show itself on the stage tonight. Will of them lose their cool and really say how they feel. Well of course not, but I am hoping.
Each one has been coached to restrain all emotionally towards the other person. Aides to both Romney and Obama have downplayed the level of personal animosity between the two candidates—insisting it is, as one Obama aide put it, "overstated." Yeah right, just watching the RNC and the DNC both candidates were itching to really say what they thought. I am sure Romney had some “interesting” words he wanted to call our President.
Now what kind questions will be asked? Mostly likely the same ones these candidates have address or have tried to address. The economy, women rights, civil rights, immigration, just to name a few. Health care is certainly going to come up, and is a somewhat difficult topic. “Obama will have to talk about health care, why this is a good bill, and why it was more important than focusing on the economy or focusing on continued stimulus,” says Zelizer. Romney, on the other hand, still hasn’t explained to some voters’ satisfaction why his position on health care has changed.
Gun control a sleeper question, especially since the debate is in cloe proximity to both Aurora, CO and Littleton, CO (Movie theater and Columbine Shootings). This is not a question either candidate would welcome, given how evasive they’ve been about gun control in the past – and how unpopular the issue is among many key swing voters.
You will hear things tonight that you do like and some things you don’t. The biggest thing is you watch the debate to know which candidate you want o vote for. Who is really for the people and who is the best leader for the United States of America. Make sure you are registered to vote and gt other to vote to. Well until next time…..PEACE!!!!
