Ex-Giant Burress Indicted on Three Charges

New York City, N.Y. - Former Super Bowl hero and teamate of Plaxico Burress, Antonio Pierce is off the hook with New York City prosecutors, but hings aren't looking so good for Plaxico Burress.
Today, he was indicted on gun charges that could put him in jail for at least 3 1/2 years.
The grand jury indicted Burress on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment.
The jurors did not buy Burress' claim that he did not mean to discharge his 40-caliber Glock pistol inside of a packed nightclub and accidentally shot himself in the thigh. They did not seem moved by Burress' public apology either.

Pierce told the grand jury that he helped the bleeding wide receiver and later reportedly returned the gun back to Burress' home in Totowa, NJ. If convicted on all counts, Burress stands to spend almost four to 15 years in prison. He remains free on $100,000 bail.

FORMER NY GIANTS PLAYER MICHAEL STRAHAN MAY GET A SITCOM!

According to the New York Daily News, the people at Fox are considering giving Michael Strahan his own sitcom. And hey, if they think that's a good idea, I'm all for it.

But I would like to express a word of caution to the Fox executives who came up with the idea: Just because something makes everyone on the set of Fox NFL Sunday laugh, that doesn't necessarily make it funny. For some reason -- and this applies to CBS, NBC, and ESPN, too -- almost anything said on the set of an NFL pregame show makes everyone laugh hysterically. For some reason, "Hey, Terry Bradshaw is bald!" makes everyone on the set cackle like an old hippie goofed on skunkweed and watching a Cheech and Chong movie.

Ex-NY Giant captured after month on lam

NEW YORK (AP) -- Former New York Giant Mark Ingram was arrested in Michigan on Friday, nearly a month after he disappeared on the day he was scheduled to begin serving a prison sentence for bank fraud and money laundering.
U.S. marshals tracked the retired wide receiver to a hotel room in Flint, Mich., after a manhunt that began when he failed to turn up at a federal prison in Kentucky on Dec. 5.
A spokesman for the Marshals Service in New York, Timothy Hogan, said Ingram was arrested without incident at around 6 p.m. The hotel wasn't far from Ingram's home in Grand Blanc, Mich.
Ingram, who has been in and out of jail since his playing career ended in 1996, pleaded guilty in 2005 to cashing counterfeit checks and laundering money he believed to be proceeds from narcotics deals.
Before his flight, the 1991 Super Bowl standout had sought to delay the start of his nearly eight-year prison term so he could watch his son's freshman season as a running back at the University of Alabama.

Wife of N.Y. Giants LB Pierce' Shouts "Foul:" That's Not My Husband!

WIFE STAYS TRUE BLUE TO 'CAD' NOT MY GIANT ON GROPE VID
By ERIN CALABRESE and MATTHEW NESTEL, NY Daily News
She's challenging the call that he's playing the field. The enraged wife of Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce threw a hissy fit yesterday - insisting that her husband isn't the man caught on surveillance video groping a mystery woman at a West Side strip club an hour before his teammate Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself. "That's not even him," she said, before slamming the door of her Totowa, NJ, home in a Post reporter's face.
Pierce is singing like Jackson Jr., but his tune: "Wasn't me..."

BY LARRY MCSHANE DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

As a former wide receiver, Giants Super Bowl hero Mark Ingram knows what it means to go long. The feds say he's taken that to an extreme by skipping out on the start of a jail term. An arrest warrant was issued Monday for Ingram, who bailed out on a 71/2-year sentence set to begin in a Kentucky Federal prison last Friday.

NFLPA files grievance to recover New York Giants Plaxico Burress's money
By Ralph Vacchiano, NY Daily News

The NFL Players Association won’t even try to save Plaxico Burress’ 2008 season, but they will try to prevent him from losing nearly $2 million in lost wages and fines.
The union filed a non-injury grievance on Burress’ behalf this afternoon, according to NFLPA spokesman Carl Francis, charging that the Giants’ actions were “in violation of the CBA.” Francis said that it was “excessive” when the Giants placed him on the non-football injury list, suspended him for four weeks without pay and fined him what the NFLPA says was the maximum allowed — one full additional week’s pay.
