The NFL Players Association won’t even try to save Plaxico Burress’ 2008 season, but they will try to prevent him from losing nearly $2 million in lost wages and fines.
The union filed a non-injury grievance on Burress’ behalf this afternoon, according to NFLPA spokesman Carl Francis, charging that the Giants’ actions were “in violation of the CBA.” Francis said that it was “excessive” when the Giants placed him on the non-football injury list, suspended him for four weeks without pay and fined him what the NFLPA says was the maximum allowed — one full additional week’s pay.
