OBAMA ADMINIISTRATION IS REALLY MOVING WITH THE SBA

SBA News Digest

Helping contractors and construction companies get capital faster:
The health and success of the construction industry is critical to our nation’s economy. SBA knows that we must do all we can to make sure this sector grows, and can compete for contracting opportunities and create jobs. That is why SBA is proud to announce our new “Quick App” for surety bonds.  This new application process combines two applications into one to make it easier and faster for small businesses and general contractors to compete for contracts. Administrator Mills visits small businesses in New Hampshire:
SBA administrator Karen Mills joined U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) in New Hampshire to hear from small business owners about the impact SBA programs have had on their companies.  While in the Granite State, Administrator Mills talked about the Small Business Investment Research (SBIR) grant which provides critical funds for innovative small businesses at their start-up and development stages. This recent reauthorization of the program provides stability for small businesses so they can continue to drive innovation, create jobs, and grow our economy. Check out the SBIR program here: http://go.usa.gov/7Bn

SBA helping vets start small businesses:
Since taking office, President Obama has worked to ensure that the talented men and women of our armed forces have the tools they need to thrive and help create an American economy built to last. Earlier this summer, SBA launched “Boots to Business”—a public-private partnership which includes the Departments of Defense and Veteran’s Affairs, and builds on a collaboration the SBA currently has with Syracuse University. The program encourages entrepreneurship as a career option and provides transitioning service members with nuts and bolts training materials to help start their own businesses as they leave active duty.
